Children’s Books Worth Living With

This stack contains recommendations and reviews for picture books, early readers, middle grade, and young adult. Every book featured here is one we genuinely recommend. Some are beloved classics, some are overlooked treasures, and a few may require hunting down a used copy. The best children’s books are every bit as rewarding for the adult reading them aloud as they are for the child listening, and that is the standard to which this collection is held. As C. S. Lewis famously observed: “A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.”
